Velvet Cherry has had a busy several months creating new wedding dresses. It is wonderful seeing the different ideas women want for that important day. We really enjoy making one off creations that speak of the beauty and spirit of the wearer.

The bride, Robyn, brought in an image of what she wanted. She had already bought the fabric. It was simply a case of making it all come together. This took about 40 hours work as the detailing was all hand stitched. It is made of silk satin covered by silk georgette and fully lined. Carefully placed lace covers the bust and hips.

RL0148The dress was made from a custom designed pattern, made exactly to fit Robyn’s figure. Then the dress was constructed from the inside outwards. The rouching on the abdomen was stitched together by hand so the stitching wouldn’t show. Then the skirt was stitched on layer by layer. The under layers of the skirt had more fullness at the front to assist movement whereas the top layer had more fullness at the back to give more float and flow as she walked. The lace was the last layer added and it was carefully cut motif by motif from a piece of beaded lace covered net, then placed and hand stitched onto the dress.

The result is an ultra feminine, light and detailed dress with a wonderful level of richness.

This was photographed beautifully on the day in the bride’s blog.
